Plenty of folks visit Asheville North Carolina all year long. Some figure out what to do before they get here, and others come here looking. What are some of the things, according to you, that they must do? This can include activities, landmarks, tours, place to eat, beer drinking spots, wine, shopping, or whatever you recommend.

Downtown Asheville, I think that is the place present Asheville in the best way. And don’t forget Drum Circle on Friday nights!

Visitors should definitely check out a few local restaurants because our food scene is a big part of our identity in Asheville, we’re proud of our food. Probably every other person you see in town has a tattoo and they’re probably a local, we have a ton of great tattoo shops all across town, if they’re feeling ballsy, I’d say check out one of our local tattoo artists and create a memory that lasts forever.

Friday night drum circle is a definite must!  Also the LaZoom (purple bus) tour.  It doesn’t always have to be about the Biltmore House.  There is SO MUCH to do in the Asheville area.  Touring the breweries, RiverArts District, the Grove Arcade & shops, and so much more!

Malaprop’s bookstore downtown and the Thomas Wolfe house, for those of a literary bent!

Riding the LaZoom bus is a hilarious way to kick off a visit to Asheville. Ride it before you do anything else—that way you can scope out the town and maybe even pinpoint restaurants, shops, and other places you want to return to. Biltmore Estate is a no-brainer, but make sure to build in enough time to really enjoy the place. It will take 2 to 3 hours just to go through the house, but there’s so much more to do. Other things I’d add to the must do list: visit a craft brewery or hop on the Amazing PubCycle to visit a few (Asheville has a reputation as Beer City U.S.A.) take Joshua Warren’s “Haunted Asheville” ghost tour, visit novelist Thomas Wolfe’s boyhood home, and find your way around town via the Urban Trail. Of course, I’m just skimming the surface. Asheville has layers to discover.
