Rooted in the Blues. Friday, May 27. Doors open at 6pm. Concert starts at 7pm. at YMI Cultural Center. Legendary Bluesman Clyde “Pop” Ferguson, 83, launches his Rooted in the Blues Tour. Pop is noted by Smithsonian Institute as being one of the “Last Practitioners of Traditional Blues” living in the North Carolina Foothills. During the 1970s he toured with Folk Blues guitarist Etta Baker.  Headlining with Pop is Asheville’s own Chuck “Dr. Blues” Beattie who has shared the stage with Cephus & Wiggins, Nneena Freelon and numerous others. Also, Asheville’s own Queen of Jazz and Blues, Kat Williams, who has opened for Chaka Kahn, Jay Leno, Jimmy Thackery and more.  There will be a “Meet & Greet the Artist” at the end of the performance.
