We recently wrote about the Top 25 restaurants in Asheville according to Trip Advisor, and this pizza joint from out in Black Mountain North Carolina, about 20 minutes east of downtown Asheville, made the list. So while out on that end of town for a real estate business meeting recently, folks were asking where to eat. Of course I spoke up and kind of demanded we go to Fresh Wood Fired Pizza. And glad we did! Such great, fresh, and delicious food all around.
One of the things we try to get our visitors to do it to explore other ends of the county. It is not just Downtown Asheville, West Asheville, Biltmore Village, and the River Arts District. Spend a day in Hendersonville, Waynesville, Weaverville, and Black Mountain. There is so much more to see, and there are so many wonderful sub-communities all around Western North Carolina.
I love pizza, and the pizza at Fresh is the best I have ever had. Lots of unexpected variety. My friends who are gluten free tell me their gluten free crust is by far the best they have ever had, that it really tastes like pizza, not cardboard. And when I am tired of pizza, I order the portabella sandwich–fantastic. The Tuscan bean soup is a must on a cold winter day. Fresh is a gem in the restaurant setting of Asheville!
Yes we are getting back there real soon!
