Headliner: THE WERKS
Support: The Fritz & Duende Mountain Duo
The Werks have quickly emerged as a national powerhouse. As a result of their eclectic individual influences, The Werks produce a dance party that can be appreciated by a majority of musical tastes. Known for fusing psychedelic shredding guitar, wailing organ of jam and classic rock with funk slap bass, synthesizers, and modern dance beats, The Werks create their own style of music. Their unique style of performing is affected and manipulated by the energy of the audience, guaranteeing that each show will be different and memorable.
The Fritz is a five piece rock band that likes to get funky. This band takes it’s songwriting very seriously, but takes it’s improvisation just as seriously: carefully weaving into each composition the personality of the band and the crowd. While their music may range from hard driving soul to progressive rock, there is always a common thread of passionate energy. Whether live or in the studio, The Fritz continues to create an energetic dance party every time.
In March of 2013, The Fritz released their second studio effort “Bootstrap”. The album is a collection of songs the band wrote over the past 4 years while traveling the Southeast, steadily building a reputation as a live act not to be missed. As they enter 2014, the band begins pre-production for their next studio album to be recorded in their hometown of Asheville, NC. If fans can’t wait for the next studio release they can have their pick of several recent live shows available for free download on their website.
Things have only been getting busier for The Fritz, and the future promises to be exciting. Be on the lookout for the band at venues and festivals throughout the East Coast and Midwest as they continue to bring their relentless drive of intoxicating energy to crowds everywhere.
The Duende Mountain Duo started in late 2007 as a completely improvised live electronic act. Now combining live instrumentation alongside computer-based production and DJ-inspired transitions, a new live show experience is born where production meets performance.
Made up of guitarist and producer Will Little and human drum-machine, Will Stone, Duende has spent the last 5 years shaping it’s sound by pulling inspiration from all subgenres of EDM. The end result is a truly original sound with early roots inspired by French Electro House and UK Drum N Bass blended with current deeper and darker genres.
Duende has seen tremendous growth expanding its fanbase and touring markets and constantly evolving it’s sound. They have appeared at regional NC festivals such as Mantrabash and Groverfest as well as larger EDM events such as Trinumeral and Bass Church. Duende has shared the stage with national acts such as Big Gigantic and Conspirator, regional acts such as Zoogma, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus and The Mantras, and many bands in the NC network such as Cindercat, Electric Soul Pandemic and Imperial Blend.
The term Duende has many different definitions, the simplest being “the ability to attract others through personal magnetism and charm.” In Spanish Art the term is used to describe the magic of improvisation and spontaneous creation: “a sort of corkscrew that can get art into the sensibility of an audience…”
