The first annual Jam Invitational gets underway immediately following the Earthday celebration in downtown Asheville and is only $5 for admission!

Confirmed artists playing the Invitational include Grammy-winning percussionist Count M’Butu, formerly of the Derek Trucks Band, who has played with countless world class musicians including The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Santana, Frank Zappa, Widespread Panic and Phish. Also taking part will be Grant Green Jr., the son of famed Blue Note guitarist Grant Green and an impeccable guitarist himself. Green Jr. is best known as a member of The Masters of Groove along with drummer Bernard Purdie and organist Reuben Wilson, and has played with many other musicians including Dr. Lonnie Smith and Lou Donaldson.

Rounding out the bill is drummer Sean Mason, of Zansa and a slew of other projects, Craig Sorrells on trumpet from The Works, Justin Powell on keyboards formerly of The Mantras and Vertigo Jazz Project, Greg Hollowell on saxophone formerly of Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Taylor Lee on bass from the Jeff Sipe Trio and Hank Smith on Banjo from The Morning After and Blu-Bop.
