The Asheville History Center at Smith-McDowell House is preparing a new season of Crafty Historian events. These Saturday morning events include an educational program and feature a craft for participants to take home. These programs are designed for school-age children, but younger children are welcome with an adult. Generally held on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:30am to 12:30pm and fees for the program range from $3 to $5 to cover craft expenses. January’s Crafty Historian will be on January 18th and feature a child’s exploration of our Douglas Ellington: Asheville’s Boom Town Architect and the craft will be a lovely Art Deco piece using mirror tiles and faux jewels. Fee for this event is $4.
