Haywood Community College’s main campus is located in Clyde, North Carolina & is a designated arboretum known for its stand of lofty oak trees plus the beauty of its gardens. Rhododendron and Dahlia Gardens are visited each year by garden clubs and local residents and are a source of pride for the college. The grounds often serve as an outdoor classroom for students in our Natural Resources programs. Students also have access to two other tracts of land—320-acre Raymond J. Fowler Conservancy and Teaching Forest and 54-acre John T. and Catherine R. Beaty Natural Resources Classroom. Approximately 3,000 students attend this college.

Lenoir Rhyne University is a private, coeducational university affiliated with N.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and open to students from all religious backgrounds. Mars Hill College is located in one of the most beautiful regions of the Eastern US, the mountains of WNC. Mars Hill College is the oldest educational institution on its original site in Western North Carolina. Founded by a small group of pioneer citizens, descendents of original settlers in the area. Montreat College was founded in 1916 and is a 132 acre campus. It is an independent, self-governing college, related to the Presbyterian Church by history, location, and long-standing relationships with the Mountain Retreat Association and Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities. The College seeks to honor Jesus Christ and the Presbyterian and reformed heritage, while remaining uninvolved in denominational politics and administration and welcoming students without regard to religious affiliation.
South College is a private, coeducational, non-sectarian academic institution, promotes students’ sense of direction, accomplishment, and growing confidence in attaining their educational and professional goals. The new building contains 40,000 square feet of modern classrooms, labs and other amenities for the use of students. Parking is available for students and staff. Courses at South College-Asheville are conducted in the day, afternoon, and evening hours, Monday through Saturday. Day classes begin at 8:30 a.m., evening classes 6:00 p.m., Friday/Saturday classes 9:00 a.m.
Southwestern Community College has a policy that no qualified person shall be excluded from participation in, declined the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any college program or activity on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. Since achieving independent status in the fall of 1967, the College (then known as Southwestern Technical Institute) has greatly expanded its educational and training services to the residents of Jackson, Macon and Swain counties. The Macon Campus is on a 20-acre site on Siler Road, south of Franklin NC.
