West Asheville has an amazing assortment of restaurants. Buffalo Nickel is great, so is King Daddy’s Chicken & Waffles. The best dessert place is The Hop Creamery, with Friday night flights of new flavors. They post their weekly flavors on Facebook and have a mad house on nights when they team up with Hole Bakery (located across the street) for ice cream/doughnut sandwiches.
Sunnypoint Café is top notch for the West end. Wish there was a 12 Bones out this way, but great BBQ can be had at the Bonfire on Patton Ave. Limited parking here, however. They offer Karoake on Tuesday nights.
If you want truly authentic tacos – reasonably priced, try Tacos Muñoz. I’ve had the best tacos EVER there – try the “cheek” meat ones – the most tender meat you will ever eat! Be prepared to order in Spanish. And add a Horchata to drink (rice milk with cinnamon) – the food is fresh and the staff are friendly!
The best ice cream can be had at The Hop West – fresh made with wondrous creations that may sound odd, but when tasted are incredible!
The best sushi in Asheville can be found at Green Tea Japanese Restaurant. You can taste the freshness!
For good bar food and laid back atmosphere I prefer Westville Pub … they have window seats great for people watching and a covered patio in back perfect for catching up (or bringing your furry friend). Buffalo Nickel is a good option for after hours business meet ups or date night and offers a wide array of dining options.
LOL, there’s not a dog in this pack. Still, I migrate to some regular haunts: WALK, Westville Pub, Asheville Sandwich Co., OWL Bakery, Universal Joint. Food is coming out great at the former Altamont Brewing — now Upcountry Brewing. This is my “neighborhood brewery” — so I’m a little biased.
Self serve beer tasting is great fun at Pour Taproom, located next door to my fav WAVL coffeehouse, Odd’s Cafe. The Hop gets my ice cream vote and, of course, as a doughnut aficionado, I’m partial to the handmade eccentricity I find at Hole Doughnuts.
