Brunch is a big deal in Asheville North Carolina, and it is not just on Sunday anymore. What are some of your favorite spots in the Asheville area? And if you have any great dishes that we need to try, please suggest. Thanks!
Get off the beaten path. Try The Potato Wedge, just north of Beaver Lake on Merrimon. Where else in Asheville are you going to get fresh made pierogies? Get the blintzes (strawberry please). Plus some traditional Polish dishes. Stuffed cabbage and kielbasa anyone? Potato latkes (get a double order). Yeah, they have all the traditional breakfast offerings, but don’t come for that. And leave any hint of pretension at the door. This is like being in someone’s grandmother’s kitchen dining room.
On the radar is Bebette’s Beignets and Cafe, just opening on Tunnel Road. I’ll go just to try the beignets and coffee – but they are promising that they will soon also have food trucks to serve a wider menu of brunch dishes. That chance to mix and match brunch dishes sounds mighty appealing.
Posana is amazing, we love to go there as much as possible. It’s alll gluten free and they have the best gluten-free baked goods.
Sunny Point, Biscuit Head, Early Girl, and Tupelo Honey are go to places for a relaxed brunch. We love taking out-of-town guests to brunch to experience these Asheville staples.
I’d like to add that Moose Café has an all-you-can-eat breakfast that will fill you up for under $10; then there is SunnyPoint Café that offers their unique Huervos Rancheros which made them famous on a national network – it is AWESOME! But be prepared for a wait – this places fills up almost as soon as it opens! Well worth the wait for that special dish!
