Asheville and Western North Carolina have so many breweries to choose from! Beer City USA has some great beer. Which ones have you visited, which ones are your favorite, and why?
Wow, this is like asking who is my favorite kid! The answer is that it depends on what I’m wanting to do. If I’m brewery hopping, I tend to stay near South Slope — Burial, Green Man, Catawba, Twin Leaf, Hi-Wire, Wicked Weed.
On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I hit Wedge n River Arts for food truck goodies and cornhole or chill under the huge shaded outdoor area at Asheville Brewing downtown.
For live music or special events, I turn to Highland Brewing — or if I just wanna sip a cold one while taking in the panoramic view of the mountains from their rooftop bar.
This is a tough one, as there are so many GREAT ones in the area!
Wicked Weed and Thirsty Monk are good, as well as Bhramari Brewhouse , which offers some really yummy food as well! And then, of course, there is the infamous Green Man Brewing.
No matter which brewery you choose, you are sure to enjoy. We aren’t the Beer Capital of America for nothing!
I’m partial to Oskar Blues because it isn’t far from Dupont where there are amazing trails and waterfalls. The brewery itself has seating available in the tasting room upstairs eather at the bar or in a booth and the outside area is entirely covered making it perfect for rain or shine, food truck food is available too.
Highland Brewing is outside the downtown area, but certainly one of the best in town and the place that got the craft beer industry hopping in Asheville when Oscar Wong created the company in the mid-90s. Downtown – head to Wicked Weed, Hi-Wire Brewing, Burial Beer and Green Man Brewing to start.
