asheville cocktails Archives - AskAsheville - Asheville, North Carolina
Some days run later than others. Working with so many business owners in the Asheville area does not lend itself to a stiff schedule. Sometimes it’s early mornings and late nights, whatever is needed to accommodate the company or campaign we are implementing. So it started getting late one night, and we were checking place after place as we were coming from north Asheville. Everywhere was closed or about to close. Then a light went off, and I checked Post 70, and it was open! We headed over there and had such an incredible dinner, a foodie night to remember for sure.
First we had a couple of craft cocktails off of their menu, and they were made to perfection. Then we had a Pork Belly appetizer that was served on mac & cheese. Next up was the Surf & Turf option, steak and shrimp, and the steak was the best I have had in awhile. For dessert, Lavender Creme Brulee mmmmmmmm!
You must check Post 70 out, and also plan to visit their new Post 25 restaurant getting ready to open in south Asheville.
While working on a video shoot with the G Social Media crew in downtown Asheville, we ended up on the upper level of the Social Lounge. If you have never been to there, it is a 2-story craft cocktail bar with a rooftop area to eat, drink and be merry. The food at this place is supplied by the kitchen at Strada, which has the same owners, and is adjoined side-by-side. After looking at the menu for a few minutes, I ordered the Calamari, with a side of Shrimp, and also a side of Salmon. And I will order that exact dish again, soon! HeartIsTree Studios was also there and both of the owners are Vegan, so they had this gluten-free crusted cheese-less pizza. It was so good, it seemed as if they were about to fight over the last slice. Oh, and that drink was a blackberry, mint, ginger, and rum Mojito. Everything was so perfecto and delicious! Thank you Strada.
Just this month we started the Tour De Asheville. This is a monthly event where our inside media team and some guests get together to go cruising around WNC in the private van, eating, drinking, meeting folks, taking photos, taking videos, interviewing business owners, chefs and more. Kind of like a reality show, but no show, just us. So exciting. All of us have heard and experienced Asheville in one form or another, but the half has not been told. We are going after that other half!
Our first stop was to the event room at Moment’s Cafe in Swannanoa where we met up with Chef Anne of Anne’s Custom Catering. We got to try so many great foods, coffees, and also interview Anne and her husband Joseph as a group. We learned about how they got started, the many styles of food she has mastered, and how her catering company is now growing by leaps and bounds; with even a brand new website being developed as you read this!
The next stop was Barley’s Taproom & Pizza in Downtown Asheville. Now there are many brewery stops that you can go to in Asheville, but we wanted a wide variety of craft brews from all around the USA to taste, making this the perfect spot. We talked to Jimi, who is one of, if not the pillar that craft beer in Asheville was formed on. As a matter of fact, the great Highland Brewing started out in the basement of this building, and then eventually outgrew it. A must stop if you are brew touring in Asheville North Carolina.
Then we shot over to The Hop West ice cream shop to try a few samples and talk to Ashley, one of the owners. The brownie delight with cold mountain ice cream was incredible. Then that peppermint stick ice cream was so delish! Ashley talked to us about how The Hop Ice Cream got started and their growth including The Hop West opening, and then The Hop Ice Creamery. Who ever knew that ice cream could build so much community? But this is the case every day with The Hop, and ever since Greg and Ashley took it over.
The last stop? Post 70 Indulgence Bar in East Asheville, and this place was WOW!! Talk about amazing craft cocktails, small plates of cuisine, and desserts that will leave you satisfied yet craving more. The building was packed inside and out with an oyster roast just ending, plus a dining room and bar full of folks having a great time. Emilios was delivering the food to our table while Courtney was shaking and serving cocktails. I saw her double fisting the shakers several times throughout the evening. We will be back. Like every week!
Asheville Premier Transportation supplied the van for the Tour De Asheville and did such an amazing job. We are planning on going on one of her private beer and food tours real soon as Dana’s company is expanding as well. In the meantime, if you are in the Asheville, Hendersonville, or WNC area and want to host us when we are out on your end of town, contact us and let us know. We just may drop in with our media team to paparazzi you and your business. Thank you to all of the businesses that hosted us this time!
Craft Cocktails are taking Asheville North Carolina by storm! There are cocktails; and then there are craft cocktails. You can get a cocktail just about anywhere that has a wet bar. But a craft cocktail doesn’t come so easy. There are many wonderful places in Asheville area to get a well made cocktail. It is not just about having all of the ingredients either. You have to have the right amounts, the perfect temperature, the proper glass, and a stellar pour. Add a great atmosphere, some delicious eats, an experienced social bartender; and you are well on your way to the perfect evening.

Every little bit counts in the world of craft. That is what makes us different. This is what makes us special. Either you have it or you don’t. You can’t fake it til you make it. There is no half & half. You have to choose whether you are in or out when it comes to the craft world. Here are a few places where we have experienced amazing craft cocktails in Asheville. It would be pretty hard to go wrong if you went to these spots:
These are just the places where we have personally experienced perfection. Maybe you know a few other great places around Asheville that make an incredible cocktail? Comment below and let us know about it, and maybe we can stop by there with the team soon. Thank you.
This past Wednesday we experienced an amazing dinner paired with cocktails at Asheville’s Social Lounge & Tapas Bar downtown. If you have not been there, this is one of the “Must-Stop” places! Not only do they have one of the Top 3 Cocktail Bars on the ground level; but they also have a lounge area upstairs that leads to their outdoor rooftop seating area. The perfect atmosphere. That is where this event was held. First was the Tuscan Stuffed Fig appetizer with a Buttercup cocktail. So good! Then the main course… Italian Smoked Pork Jowl beside a Moscow Mule cocktail. YUM! Finally, the Hazelnut Panna Cotta and a dessert cocktail featuring Mystic Bourbon arrived at the table. Not cake, but this pairing was definitely the icing on it! The Social Lounge in downtown Asheville is open from 4pm til 2am Monday through Thursday, 3pm til 2am on Friday and Saturday, and 3pm til midnight on Sunday.
Stay tuned as they will be having monthly events just as great as this one. Also see the post on Seriously Creative about this wonderful evening!
