So I woke up so hungry the other day. Luckily, I had planned on meeting EnergyTech Builders about an investment project I have on the board. It was his choice where to meet, and he asked.. “do you know where Wynn’s Diner is on Leicester Highway? I thought I did, but then he reminded me that is across the street from the Ingles out that way, Northwest Asheville if you may. I ordered the Country Fried Steak, 2 Eggs Over Medium, Hashbrowns, and Light White Toast. Wynn’s Diner is what many refer to as a “Greasy Spoon” or “Grezzy Spoo” if you are a native. There a several in the area. Moose Cafe is considered the largest; but you also have Granny’s Kitchen in Weaverville, the Miami Restaurant in Candler, Pop’s Diner in Weaverville, Happy Hill Restaurant in west Asheville, Cruizer’s Diner in Candler, Mama’s Fast Food in west Asheville, and the Mediterranean Restaurant in downtown Asheville. Unfortunately, they are a dying breed, and scattered throughout the city and suburbs; but well worth a visit when you are in the mood for a hearty country breakfast, lunch or dinner in lieu of a culinary fusion. Whether if you are visiting the Asheville area, or living here from day to day; get out a little more to these sub-communities that surround the City to live and eat a little more!
