Thanksgiving Hit & Run in Asheville – man dies

While many of us are having Thanksgiving Dinner, a man was hit by a vehicle on Broadway, near the Moog Factory on the northside of downtown Asheville. The driver took off without stopping. The Asheville Police Department are searching for any information to find the driver of the car that struck this man. If you know anything, please contact APD.

Info below taken from the Asheville Citizen Times:

“Police are looking for a light colored truck, possibly a Ford, with damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, which Jones said was sustained in the accident. The witness said there was also “something odd,” possibly additional damage, to the back of the vehicle.

The truck was last seen fleeing the scene heading toward Chestnut Street on Broadway. Anyone with information can call Asheville Police at 252-1110 or Asheville Buncombe Crimestoppers at 255-5050.”

AskAsheville knew him well: Here is a picture the man who died in the accident – Mell Andree Ailes Sr. also known as “RAM” and “Dre Dog” – hanging with friends in Asheville NC a few months ago:

Here are the photos of the truck that was involved  in the Hit & Run. Please look around and call the authorities with any leads.

We heard about these photos via a tweet from Blog Asheville and then borrowed them from the Mountain Xpress website.

  1. those two pictures of the truck look to be two different trucks unless one of the pictures is inverted. Please reply with the explanation of this. Thank you.
