Matt Mittan and Agnes Cheek have been a part of the Asheville area for quite some time now. They are the owners of the radio station News Talk 50 and a talk radio program on 1350 WZGM. Also see their website: MattandAgnes.com. Both of them were extremely successful in their previous endeavors, and have now taken the bull by the horns in creating this community radio station for the Western North Carolina community and syndicating it across the Country. I met with Agnes recently and she talked about the transition they made into this new company, where they technically did not have much to start with; but friends & residents in Asheville and beyond stepped out to help them get this off the ground. Today they are strong, and getting more established each and every day. Their mission now? Give back to the community through radio.
Here is a podcast interview that SoConvo recently did with Matt & Agnes. Take a few minutes to listen to it and meet the team behind this great Asheville based radio station.
I Said, Yeah! (ISY) is 103.5 Main-FM’s newest program. Co-hosts Aaron and James introduce weekly music picks ranging from brand new releases, old classics, and rare, seldomly heard tracks. Each song is introduced, discussed, and broken down in a fun, entertaining way. ISY airs every Saturday night at 7pm. It can be heard live on 103.5 FM or streamed at www.mainfm.org.
Since its first episode aired on February 12th, 2011 the show has seen a steady increase in fans and, consequently, feedback whether by email, social networking, or correspondence through their website www.isaidyeah.com.
ISY is eclectic, which allows for listeners of every type to enjoy the show. In just the past three episodes, Aaron and James have played songs from genres including indie/rock, soul, oldies, reggae, country, gospel, folk, and hip hop. Anyone tuning into the show is bound to hear something they enjoy – and hopefully something that they have never heard before.
I Said, Yeah! started as a podcast in 2010 and has since been picked up by Main-FM as part of its primetime Saturday lineup. The show offers great music, interesting information, and an entertaining dialogue between Aaron and James.
