I was born and raised in Asheville, NC. Graduated from A.C. Reynolds. Attended A.B.Tech and received an A.A.S in Radiologic Technology. I attended an applied Nuclear Medicine program at UNC Chapel Hill. Graduated and worked as a Nuclear Medicine Tech for over 8 years.
I began having Lupus symptoms at age 12. It started with severe joint pain and exhaustion. This became gradually worse over the years. I went to doctor after doctor and insisted something was wrong, but no one seemed to listen. It took me 20 years to get a diagnosis of Lupus and 21 years to get a Fibromyalgia diagnosis.
I’ve had an array of orthopedic surgeries, including a total hip replacement last year. Lupus is destroying the connective tissue in my body, but with the support of my friends and family, I feel there are brighter days ahead.
